Out-of-stock and unavailable offers
How the app filters offer products that are sold out, unpublished, or otherwise not purchasable — and when a campaign shows a health warning for them.
The app never wants to show a shopper an offer they can't actually buy. This page summarizes how offer products that are sold out, unpublished, or otherwise unavailable are filtered out across campaign types, and how the campaign list warns you about them.
Availability filtering
Across campaign types, offer variants are filtered to those available for sale before being shown or offered to a shopper:
- Post-Purchase: when the offer page is validated (and again when the downsell is fetched on decline), offer variant details are checked against live Shopify availability and filtered to available-for-sale variants only — variants already in the just-placed order are also excluded. If every offer variant is filtered out, the offer (or the whole Post-Purchase page) is skipped. See Post-Purchase offers in depth.
- Gift with Purchase / Checkout Upsells (multi-offer): only products with at least one available variant count toward the "available products" total used to compute the effective diversity limit — the enforced limit is the smaller of your configured Total Limit and the number of currently available products. Out-of-stock products shrink the effective limit rather than blocking the offer outright. See Multiple offers — ordering, diversity limits & fallbacks.
For the storefront-widget side of this — the Hide out of stock toggle, Shopify's "Continue selling when out of stock" policy, and per-variant edge cases for gifts — see Gift variants, inventory & out-of-stock handling.
Health warnings for unavailable products
An active campaign shows a red health-warning icon in the campaign list when its offer products are no longer active in Shopify or aren't published to your Online Store (see Campaign statuses, limits & health warnings). The health check looks at product status and publication only — it doesn't watch inventory, so a published product that is merely sold out won't raise the warning. Instead, sold-out variants are quietly filtered at display time as described above. The check is skipped for draft campaigns, campaigns using automatic (AI) recommendations, and collection-based offers, since their products are resolved at runtime rather than fixed at save time.
